·         Weather Updates

    • This month we are losing 1 hour 44 minutes of daylight in the month of August, so our starting times will adjust based upon sunrise and sunset times.

    • As the summer moves along, we may experience Thunderstorms that maybe severe in nature.  The professional staff monitors severe weather, and should the need arise; we will evacuate the golf course due to severe weather in the area

    • Please keep in mind when thunder roars go indoors

·         Summer Food Drive

    • This is to benefit the Rowley Food Pantry from Monday August 3rd through Sunday August 23rd.  For each item that you bring, you will get one raffle ticket into the raffle drawing for 11 prizes.

·         Sunday Couples Golf

    • A fun 9-hole scramble on Sunday August 23rd, with tee times beginning at 2:30pm.  The cost is $20 plus any greens fees or carts.

·         Golf Course Closure

    • The golf course will be closed until 1pm on Monday August 31st for aerification.

 

 

Superintendent's Corner

 

 

          As we continue to fight through these drought conditions we will use smart watering practices. It’s been dry, hot and windy but we’ve weathered the conditions. Understand there will be dry areas on fairways/tees/rough, but they are getting just enough water to look and play well. The last wave of rain helped us out tremendously!
          In the coming weeks, we will be doing an aeration of all greens, which will include topdressing and overseeding to continue to encourage growth, breathability, and a smooth playing surface. This round will be much less invasive than our earlier season aeration. I’m poking them with 1/4” tines so they’ll be back to normal within days. Our first aeration this year was a huge success and the greens responded beautifully. Between that, and other practices, our greens are the healthiest and playing the best they’ve played in my tenure here. On top of the aeration of the greens, we will continue to work on, and feed, the tees and fairways. As you may have noticed we’ve been top-dressing and aerating select tees and fairway spots in the last couple weeks. This is to break up compaction and establish a healthier soil profile. All of this will establish great turf conditions from tees to greens for the remainder of the season. It will also give us a more established quality of turf heading into the off season.
          As our crew works tirelessly, our focus will remain on consistent, measured growth and a detail-oriented work ethic. We greatly appreciate your support, positive attitude, and patience. We can have what I think will be our best fall playing conditions in over a decade!
          As a reminder, please repair ball marks on greens and replace any divots when possible.
          Also, please only play from the areas on the tee with the markers on them. We put them in certain spots for a reason, and the tees cannot recover on a daily basis if we play from different areas.
          If anyone you see isn’t behaving or following all our rules, please let someone on the staff know. Protecting our product takes a village.
